why 2 servers?

why do germans have 2 servers?
are there realy so much german players on RO?

Back when the first german server (Muspell) opened, Gamigo, the company that operates it, has done something NGD never really did: they advertised and promoted it in german game mazagines and even the games TV channel we had at that time. They also host other games, so they have a userbase that got the newsletter they sent, and some of them were willing to try.

This, of course, led it a huge influx of new players on Muspell. But there was a problem, the server couldn't handle so many users at a time. It used to crash when there were somewhere between 600 and 700 users online. They were basically forced to open a second server (Niflheim) to take the load and keep Muspell from crashing all the time.

After a time the hype died down and the sitation normalized, leading to a more populated Muspell and a Niflheim that was quite empty (somewhat like Horus at the start, maybe).

But then, I might be wrong about it, it's all from memory, and I never really played on those servers.

Niflheim is bigger than Horus. And Muspell is bigger than Nifl afaik.
