Horus: Alsius New Clan for Training [AoA]

For all interested. Ascendancy is trying something new - We hope this works out well and assists Horus Alsius. We've broken the clan up into two clans.

Ascendancy (Pure waring group, high levels, etc).
Acolytes of Ascendancy [AoA] (Grinding, war training clan).

Acolytes of Ascendancy [AoA]
This clan is for grinding, anyone is welcome. The purpose is to help move lower level players into the ranks of the fighting faster. We'll conduct warfare training in teaching new players pvp, fort war, and open field tactics. We are hoping we can get more interest in war by getting them when they are younger in level. We'll have dedicated support conjurers to assist when needed and tons of information available via our clan forum and through our IRC channel.

Ascendancy's purpose hasn't changed...it's just now more focused.


If this works and we stay focused (and we get interest from lower leveled players) I think we'll have a huge impact on making Alsius more "war friendly". We want to help where we can....and this is one method we came up with.

Best of luck for this project, we really need it. Id would really like to see all active clans alsius somehow merge into these two to create some kind of brotherhood to establish a sense of coordination.

Ive seen how well the Ascendancy guys work together as a team. ive even gone as far to say that the only time when we are really good is when we lead by one of you guys and everyone in my clan chat could second that. So for that knowledge to be bestowed upon everyone would be a great thing.

Nice to see some clan making an active effort to train new players up for warzone, just taking Trele back today I saw a conju making a fair few basic errors and getting himself killed largely because he didnt know how to position himself.

Funny, Alsius have always had Grind Parties going - though the numbers have reduced around August/September last year.

Hopefully the co-ordination effort will be extended onto the General (Alsius) Public, and not just focused on attracting new members for a specific clan.

Grinding - from my own experience, clans are definitely not needed for pure grinding. As long as the Grind Parties are publicized - advertised a few times in Realm Chat, newcomers should be able to easily locate grind parties. That's how I found grinding parties - and met decent folks in-game.

Vultureman, The Sweetness, Elli, flogger, Windrium, Ares, Healer-Myth and Torin Ironfist were among the first group of people I found myself grinding with, and chatting. Though I've had a few people briefly help me before with quests etc - Kianoni, Sydonay, Ogre...

Then naturally found myself grinding with other decent people - with potential and pro-Community - like Archangel, Rohan Knight, Sparta, Urizen, Durwyn, Erok, Asdaf Mage, Klos, Anyriand, Knekeloveste, Castingbeast, Falcorn Bosso, Kyrottimus, Bluie, Lly'ra, Veer Gupt, Simlis... Just off the top of my head (apologies if I left someone out).

All those individuals discovered, on my own, without being pulled into a "pro-grinding" clan.

- Will AoA work? Yes and No - based on all the feedback I've read so far. While it may well give MMO newcomers the necessary, basic cognitive skills of analyzing the battlefield and casting the right spells at the right time, it also has the potential to promote Elitism and Favouritism - two unacceptable concepts from the Real World that hinders real progress and real competition. Not to mention the possible anti-invasion messages that they may hand out...

Quoting Prokofy Neva (yes, I like using Prokofy's blog posts as references - a lot - since her posts are often right on point):

[Favouritism], which you can think of as "the kool kids" or "the jocks and cheerleaders" or "the inside dopes" or however you called it in your high-school or your office, where perhaps you rage and gnash your teeth at the fact that people who seem to do less work or have less talent or even less fabulousness than you still get ahead through connections, favour-banks, or sleeping their way to the top. Or even if they DO deserve their spot in the Hall of Fame, because they DO work their asses off and DO have talent, you feel, but wait...what about the people with no talent? What about justice? What about fairness? I work hard, too!

Three possible pathways, in a nutshell.

One. The program is a success, with at least some of the issues I mentioned dissolved.

Two. Mild success, with rampant Favouritism and Elitism. Which in turn ruins other clans, gameplay etc.

Three. Miserable failure, for some reason.

When I wrote "Best of Luck" earlier, I really meant it, in a non-cynical way. Managing communities isn't easy; managing young children is hard. Managing young'uns AND discouraging unacceptable practices such as Favouritism and Elitism is harder - something Compost may be able to achieve. Doubt his counterpart/partner-in-crime is capable, though.

Well, regardless of what the two nay-sayers may think or feel....we are still trying this out.

Optimistic: If this works, awesome there's a nice place to grind (or find grinding groups) and a nice place to learn some tactics where questions are answered through the forum, irc, and clans chats. Alsius will get more higher level players faster because the boredom of grinding is a bit negated by having a group to do it with. I don't know about you all...but finding a group to grind with in Alsius has always been difficult....you typically see our grinders struggling to grind alone. Alsius will also get the benefit of having these grinders trained a bit on warfare.

Pessimistic: If this doesn't work....nothing is lost. The term "You don't know until you try" applies here. We are trying this regardless of the trolls that exist under the forum bridge.

Good News: We have members from other clans that have asked us if they can help - of course the answer is yes. All help is welcome and we appreciated any effort. The guys that leave AoA have their choice of ANY clan in the Realm....and I can only hope that the wealth of what can be learned in AoA is spread through all the clans...not just Ascendancy.

Now, can this carry on in a mature manner? Don't know that is up to a few of the posters in here simply trying to troll for argument or feed their superiority complexes....whatever the case may be.

Lets keep it positive...even criticism can be positive.

I'm not nay-saying. I'm telling the truth.
