Lightbulb The current state of Nouveau and Regnum

I tried today, with latest git versions of the whole opengl stack + latest nouveau drivers.
I am impressed by the progress.

Sadly, SM 2.0 just hung the game so I could not test it.
But this is Regnum, 800x600 (32-bit colors), Fixed pipeline, everything maxed, with Nouveau and a GeForce 9650GT.

Wow! Really nice!

Maybe it's time for me to actually try out the Nouveau driver. I had no clue it was actually this far (i.e. actually working for "real" games). I see you get about 60 FPS - do you get any other performance or display issues? E.g. invisible FX and no water..

Nope, everything works as expected with these settings.
What is also interesting to notice is the small memory footprint, compared to the binary drivers...

Oh, and I tried Sauerbraten too, with everything maxed, 800x600 and got ~20-30 fps.

radeonhd is officially a dead project. As for the radeon driver, for r100-500 support should be fairly good, r600+ (radeon 9500 and later, so some old stuff even) still lacks compressed texture uploading (and apparently some other stuff necessary for the game). Kinda sad really when you consider that nouveau is based on reverse engineering and guesswork, but is still ahead of the driver which actually has specifications available and AMD staff working on it.
