Default Topic on Conji/Hunters using pets to level players

We are allowed to click a person and click defend ally.
This allows us to legally assist other players in combat.
This grants us the ability to aide other players in leveling/hunting

Why are so many of you angry about this feature?

I believe it is a fair tactic and I never had issue with it. In any case it does not matter that much in my view because you will either use it to attack me on your behalf or send it to attack me as an assist to your ally.
Looks fair to me.

This thread and poll is intentionally misleading. The real issue is that since a recent update, pets no longer take xp by doing damage. a level 50 pet, defending a level 1 player can kill high level mobs, and take the character through 10 levels in 10 minutes. I'll keep my opinion on the matter to myself, but the results of an intentionally misleading poll are useless.

it is power leveling and it shouldn't be allowed. although in my opinion there is nothing wrong with the conj summons because they have a certain limit of duration. but a warlock who posses a conju's summon and assists a ally and just go afk is certainly not an intended game mechanic. the same for hunter's pets. you could give a lvling knight support from 3 zarkits.. and let him just go grind it's right if the other characters have to be online. (if it comes from warlocks it's wrong because their possed sommons dont have a duration)

Using the assistoption is obviously no bug. Using it in a way that you dont gain ep for dealing dmg on mobs is a bug.

Pets cannot give hunter xp in defend ally mode or hunters can go afk and gain xp. Pets themslves do no alter the loss of xp or give credit to the hunter for attacking in groups. This safeguard is what allows hunters to use pets to "support" other classes in gaining xp and combat. The hunter only gets credit for direct action that he/she does in battle.

And this obviously needs to change, so that Pets and/or Summons can be used to group grind. You say they can go AFK and gain exp, but it will be minimal exp, and eventually you get logged off after no interaction with the game for some time.

Van said this is not the way it was before, and this was not mentioned in the changelog, and therefore it should be a bug.

That too. If you don't deal 10% of the mobs total health (in damage), then you shouldn't get EXP. Let alone FULL exp.
