What should NGD work on next?
What would you prefer that NGD work on next? Would you like them to fix bugs, implement user suggestions, or add new content?

It would be nice for the devs to "implement dozens of easy user suggestions," but nothing is really EASY when you are coding an MMO.....

First of all id love if NGD wouldnt add dozens of new bugs and bugged content. Why not recruit a Testing team again on a volunteer basis that rules out the most obvious bugs and flaws before pushing it live?

Bugs are there for a reason, they can't fix them, I'd rather get new content like this awesome expansion!
About user suggestions... As a developer once said, they're mostly terrible or not possible to implement with the available resources.

Tough poll.
Because the content team is not necessarily the "fix it" team nor the tools team, nor balance team, some projects will run concurrent. I would like to see a round of fixing of bugs. Positional fix aside, I really would like to see stuff like sticking animations, that weapon holstered but attack mode bug and other ones like those fixed. Sure they are small but these tend to add up to frustrating game play over time. These are ignored for years because they are not "important enough". I would like to see first attempts to upgrade the UI. Specifically the spellbar. I think we have enough content for now. The terrain is good enough, there could be a few more quests between 45- 55 but that can come later. Maybe a new super boss in the warzone. Centralize it. Later for all this. I think I would like to see castles and forts come sometime in the first half of 2011. I would like a solid balance review to come in 1st half 2011 as well. I give them latitude because they really need to see warmasters in action to really do it right. Also they need to see how many do not want to become warmasters. This is equally important. Along with that, a solid look must be taken at invasion and its mechanics. Loopholes and weaknesses should be addressed. For the PR team, I would like to see more meat on the releases and content they expect us to digest. I had more to say on this but what is the point, company culture is what it is. I'll leave it at that. Regards |

Without turning this into a "NGD haz phailed" post, I would like to say I agree with Znurre (although, for the poll, I voted for option 2).
The big question is, why was war so much fun before 1.0 and basically, what the hell happened to this game? IMO, and I know a lot of people are going to disagree, but the idea of invasions might have sounded good, but the reality of what they did to this game and its community have been for the most part, devastating. I used to see Regnum as more of an uninstanced version of guild wars. You could pretty much fight wherever and whenever you wanted in the WZ. The end goal was that as simple as a FPS where you fight people on reasonably equal terms for no other reason than to fight, while at the same time maintaining the aspects of a decent MMORPG. Now that there is an actual purpose behind going to war, I think it actually dilutes the fun fighting just to fight. There are a lot more cross realm flame wars in the forum, and a lot less respect as a whole in the community. It never used to be "this realm always zergs", "we are underpopulated" , or "they only invade at night". It used to be "that was an awesome fight", "you guys were outnumbered but kicked ass", or "that was a great pvp". Anyway, my point is that attaching a value to actually war has decreased its "fun" value. Now people are more concerned with defending or attacking just because there are gems involved. It used to be that "Realm pride" was taking back Samal, Stone, or Aggers with nothing to gain or lose other than dignity. These days, I just lurk in the forums watching people that have either forgotten the whole point of the game, or weren't lucky enough to have been there when it was actually fun. |

Make the game actually something professional rather than something half-heartedly done. Go back and polish everything. Everything. And fix every single problem you find along the way. Every bug, every imbalance, everything. And don't work on anything new until you do.
Regnum is like someone took a wooden house frame where you just started painting the walls without even adding any roof or siding. |
