RO crashes on Nvidia GTX 460SE
Hi NGD,
I just brought a new video card Nvidia GTX 460SE with 768mb ram but RO keeps crashing my whole computer to the point of reboot everytime I try it. No matter what settings it's always the same, every Shader/setting, the result is the same. I can play other games without any problem on any settings. It's only RO that does this peculiar thing, no idea why. The graphic drivers are the latest from Nvidia. The game ran fine on onboard Intel before. Any inputs would be appreciated. System spec: C2D 2.4mhz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 460SE, Windows XP-32bit SP2, Nvidia driver v266.58 |

Check your power supply. Checked on Nvidia page for 460 series. True 460 SE is different story, but....
So for 460 they say this: Maximum Graphics Card Power (W) - 150 W. Minimum Recommended System Power (W) - 450 W.

It runs fine on my GTS 450, which isn't all too different, on the same OS. As ieti said, it is most likely a power problem. Regnum consumes both huge amounts of CPU and GPU time while other games generally only consume significant GPU time, especially latest generation ones. Because of this it not only generates alot more heat from your computer but also requires more power at once. Try running your processor or video card in powersave mode.
P.S. You actually need about 600 watts for that card, unless the power supply is highly efficient (most aren't). |

Regnum even consumes lots of power when your fps already reached 100+...
Might really be a power problem. You can run some benchmarks to test this.

Just to add. Sometimes "yellow" power supplies say for example 600W, but this is in no way true. In Bulgaria we had uber cheap suppies saying 500W, but actually they are like 250W. Under heavy load they overheat and blow whole system.

the gtx 460 also uses more cpu as well, you need a MINIMUM of 24 amps on your 12 volt rail as well, keep in mind.....that's not 24 amps across your 12 volt rails, it's 24 amps on a single 12 volt rail
i use the gtx 460 se 1g card .... no issues here
