English help in Syrtis
Look, I'm sick of the lack of english assistance in Syrtis for noobs. If we are going to build a reasonable community of english speaking folks in this realm, then we have to start helping these people quest and level. Sure, the US is in second place on the subscription list, but how many of these people dump before even getting to Fisgael? At any rate, if you need assistance with quests, or leveling pm me via /chat Backe , and I'd be more than happy to help you with whatever ails you. G'luck to all and Godspeed to Syrtis...

Sorry,
I'm not going to say that Ignis doesn't help newcomers, but I just want to point out that Syrtis does as well, and I'm pretty sure Alsius does it share too. There are quite a few english speaking clans, and players; I don't know why backe didn't get answers at the time he was playing, but I've seen people ready to help lots of times. Take care.

No imasu, you misunderstood my post. I'm not overly concerned about myself. I'm just sick of these poor bastards posting "Where's so and so", or "How do I use skill X" and getting no replies from anyone but me. Additionally, as far as the English speaking clans are concerned, where are they? The only person I've seen post in-game that had any clan information was Biwie (thanks again, btw). Not to mention, I would assume that most clan players usually view clan chat, as opposed to the entirety of Syrtis chat, which kind of leaves the rest of us unaffiliated people hanging out to dry.
At any rate, I appreciate the replies, and I'll see you all out there... |

Ok, got it now.
About the clan/group chats, yes; they're a PITA when it comes to help unaffiliated players. I check from time to time the global chat, but of course I miss a lot of things, when I see questions I try to answer them. Maybe a help channel would be of use, with volunteers ready to answer (anyway this is OT I guess). Talking about the english speaking clans, I know they're there but many of them has a GMT too far away from mine, so I can only spot a few players when I'm on-line. Take care, and thanks for the help you give to the newbies.

When I am on and happen to be paying attention to global chat, I help the English speaking (and Espanol, if I understand the question ) newbs as much as possible.
My main concern is how it's considered by some "rude" to speak English in global. I've got a thick skin and ignore the few people that have ridiculed me for not knowing Spanish, but to a newb, this can be a major turn-off. (I'm sure other realms have this problem as well, don't even try to deny it.) The majority of the users might speak Spanish/Portuguese/whatever, but there is also a not-so-small minority of English users as well. Can't we all just get along? St Alia, Syrtis conjurer and willing helper of *all* newbs, no matter your level |
