there is none.
you can come along with any weapon type. while the speed of slashing has some advantages while leveling. blunt (HAMMERs ) has a bit better skillset for pvp. i just used the weapons that i looted or that others looted and gave me. that way you save money and learn the skills of each weapon type |

Personally,
I have found in the lvls 17-23 it helped to get all skills but tactics to lvl 7 , this gives you the passive skills in all , giving you fat stat boosts, personnaly it made me kick alot of ass. the only thing you dont need to take 7 in is tactics, the 4th skill for tactics is not a passive skill, from there i have found that all weapons work about the same..... there all realitivly even i guess its just what you like looks wise.. but thats just what i personally think

Tactics gives you also a usefull passive power on Level 7.
Is´s "Martial defense" and gives a minus to target critical hit chance. |

throat cutter is a good spell in tactics.
maybe you meant stone temple in vanguard, that gives +const as passive spell |
