Sound and music suddenly stop

Hello!
I searched the board, but did not find a thread which describes my problem.
My problem is, that after about 30 seconds (after i start the game) the music and the sound suddenly stop. Sometimes, after a certain period of time, the music returns for a moment and stops again. I have OpenAL installed.

My System:
Windows XP SP1
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
1GB DDR-RAM
Sapphire ATI 9800 Pro
MSI K7N2 Delta 2 (Sound onboard)

I hope you are able to help me, cause this issue is quite annoying....

I just noticed that the music returns for a short while when i enter or leave battle. It seems like the music loop does not work properly... So if a "new" music is started, the music works but only until that tune is over.

well you are having close to my problem, I get no sound not even at
loadup?

celeron d 2.6
nvidea 5500 card
standerd chip set sound

i didnt want to open new thread so im posting here.

i dont have sound at all had it but i think i lost it after update.
any help would be really nice.

I haven't encounted this problem personally, but I like to hang out around the starting point occasionally helping new players, and I've had quite a few questions about why their sound isn't working. Naturally I can't offer any reason to them, or a solution.
