start up problem, new install, launcher hangs on "verifying data2.sdb"

It's taken me so long just to get here, I know something else is probably wrong, but here goes.

Mythbuntu 10.04
p4, 2.8 ghz, 1 gb ram
i915gl

3d should be up and running but this looks like analyzing a database or something. any ideas?

oh yeah, and i used the install package listed on the home page, not the one in the forum. is that alright?

Try going into the game fils and deleating data2.sbd, it will redownload it on launch and may fix the problem if its a corrupt file holding you back.

i got it going, but it is just running at such a snail's pace that it is impossible to play. anyway to fix that? i al ready lowered the resolution down to 800x600 just to make it run. is this just a waste of time on this wimpy card of mine?
