There are a few threads knocking around like this Blood Raven
This is one of the oldest ones I think, heck my conju is mentioned and I only actively played that for 3 or 4 months after Horus launched. True a lot of these names have gone, but that would probably be the case with any MMO, sure you stick with them for a long time, but many of these players had already been around for a while back when the thread started about 2 years back.

Each generation brings something new to the table, or so I would like to think. Also, Beeker is often on his alts these days - more so than actively playing knight.

What you guys are playing now is nowhere near the Regnum we played so please don't compare us, because it is impossible. |

I'm generally skeptical of this observation. That was my point, two sides of the same coin - One and the same but with different face values - neither can be compared.

I think the original version refers to the time before global cooldown and strafe and attacking-while-standing-still were introduced. obviously we can't compare players from different generations because they are two different combat systems with somewhat different spells. i dont see how players in the older versions is superior than the players in the newer ones tho. maybe in the old times before ndg introduced lucky box and premium gem, players don't rely on their gears as much as we do now and so more skill is involved in combat. There was a time when a single player can take on 3 to 4 targets at once and prevail in the end especially if u r a warlock. One thing i find annoying is the time it takes for older players adapt to each new system everytime NGD introduce something new like the stand-still-cast, gcd, strafe, cast speed nerf and bow range change etc. habbits can be hard to break...

I'm not quite sure how you could literally rely on your gear anyway. This is a problem for veterans for all MMO's that take a break - games change and update, if you take a break you just have to accept that when you return you will have some catching up to do, it's only natural and may not actually be a bad thing.

And yes, before it didn't matter what gear you had, before you really could solo more then 1-2 enemies at the same time because if someone couldn't play the game no gear helped him, back then you couldn't have just an universal build for every situation like now, etc. But still, Regnum is different now, and even now I'm sure there are pretty skilled players as well, but to say who is better or argue about that would be pointless. Two different worlds, two different games really. |
