Maybe try to start the game with forced safe mode.. also try enabling/disabling the "download all resources at once" option and allowing the resources to download before you enter the game

Crashes can happen because of many things, and since you're on a Mac it's going to be hard to find a fix for you.

One of the many things that could have caused it is because of having Weapon Trails turned on. There's a guard in the initiation zone that could have caused your crash. Try lowering down some settings in the options, it can also boost your performance(That means if the game is running slow, you can make it faster by disabling graphical features).
