Default About Instancing

I was going to post this in the roadmap thread, but it was locked before I had the chance to. Anyway, my concerns mainly revolve around the following comment made by Chilko.

Understanding that instances are planned for much later in the year, the mechanics behind them may or may not have been established yet. However, I'm concerned that RvR instances can severely decrease the activity of a server if they're added without taking server population into account.

Ra is apparently full and for that reason, RvR instancing will probably be beneficial for that specific server. When considering the population of Haven or Valhalla, for example, adding more room to the warzone may have an undesirable effect (less war).

Perhaps you've thought about this already NGD, and perhaps your idea of instancing won't affect server activity whatsoever. In any case, here are just some thoughts...

1) Maybe consider allowing global notification for activity across all instances? What I mean is if, for example, there are 3 instances and a fort is taken in the first instance, display a global notification in all instances as opposed to just the one where the fort was taken?

2) Maybe incorporate instancing into the global invasion system? My reasoning behind this is player motivation to war as well as realm and server activity as a whole.

Perhaps this thread is completely irrelevant as none of us know exactly how instancing will be incorporated into the game. Furthermore, maybe I'm wrong with everything I've mentioned, but I feel it's worth noting

So why post if you do not sure?

P.S. The reason of hor... Haven population problems ie player's relationship. One of the reasons of last one is mass isteria?

If you go back and read the text I posted, you'd know that I posted this because "...I'm concerned that RvR instances can severely decrease the activity of a server if they're added without taking server population into account". I don't pretend to have a perfect perspective of the game, so I always admit that I may be wrong with any suggestions or comments i make.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything? Population isn't what I'm concerned about primarily; server activity is what I'm thinking of. For example, remember when we had capturable saves in Horus? At first, there were a decent amount of people on the server, but because of that save system, war and overall activity was much slower. Then, because of the new type of gameplay, population decreased. I'm sure it didn't hurt a server like Ra as much as it did Horus.

Depending on the way instancing is introduced, it's possible to have this effect again (less activity because of instancing.... which may then lead to a lower population in the long term), which is my only reason for typing this.

Chilko didn't said anything spicific. You don't have any reasons to worry.

I think instancing will help them to separate the load. For example one instance for every fort or different instances for inner or WZ. Maybe this in future can lead to multiple connected instances to get up with the massive load on bigger population servers.

I too share the same concerns as the OP but its a bit too early the speculate.

The fact of the matter is that RvR instances will definately decrease warzone activity if its implemented in the way it is on other games with this feature. On the other hand it will be amazing for the popularity of the game as a whole which in turn will increase NGD's revenue (which is a good thing).

Its up to NGD to bridge the gap between open field war and battleground instances. I'm sure they have something good up their sleeves. If they manage to pull to it off, it could change the way pvp based mmorpg's work.

Because lately all this forum can do is complain and feel constantly unsatisfied with NGD's work. Then when they announce an upcoming update the hypocrites come out of their caves and start thanking NGD all of a sudden.

I stand by what Truvor wrote. Relax and wait for the finals people. NGD does tend to disappoint, but how can anyone keep looking at the bad side of things? Just stop playing and stop coming back to this forum/game every ~6 months and just finally leave, geez.

Oh btw, I think that "he" is a "she", but who really knows.

Would have really liked it if we had pve instances to get faster leveling cuz its a pain now

Maybe NGD will add a limit for entering an instance. Maybe every 2 hours...

Also it could be possible that you can fight against player from other servers in an instance. In WoW you always go in an instance (PvE or PvP) with players from other servers and it makes fun...
