Factions Rivalries
Hey ROL Players:
The objective of this thread is to collect opinions regarding what creatures should be friend or enemy of others and why. Please, write your comments this way: Creature A is friend of Creature B because… Creature A is enemy of Creature B because… Examples: Ghosts are friends of Golems, because Ghosts summon Golems. Beetles are enemies of Spiders, because Spiders eat Beetles. Please, use this format so that we can more easily appreciate your comments and eventually apply them to the game. Thanks. |

Zombies are enemies of all 'living' creatures, because they just want to eat more brains.
Igneos are enemies of Cyclops because they've always had to repel cyclops incursions. Aquantises hate golems because golems can invade the sea without dying (well ok so golems do technically drown when exposed to water... but they shouldn't! and neither should aquantises actually!) Ghosts are the friends (minion is prolly better to say) of Liches and will help protect the Liches if someone attacks a Liche within a ghost's presence (if this is even possible). All monsters (not necessarily animals/insects/reptiles) should be the enemies of town guards if they get too close. Gryphos/Gryphonites are the enemies of sabretoothed cats (because cats eat birds). Sabretoothed cats are the enemies of Hyenas and Werewolves (including Licans) and Wolves. Yetis are the enemies of Trolls because they compete for the same food source. All snakes are the enemies of gryphons/gryphonites because they eat snakes. All undead are the enemies of Igneos, because Igneos are instinctively protecting their (former) lands from Ignis necromancers' summons. Tol-Tar Slaves are friends of Giant Tol-Tars, well maybe not friends, but slaves. (: Orcs, Goblins and Trolls are all friends because they share some common evolution. Golems should attack any living 2-legged monster that comes too near, not necessarily out of hatred for a faction but simply because they do it to players, and it would only be fair if they did it to monsters too (: All Orc-kind (orcs goblins trolls) hate all Tol-Tar-kind and vice versa, because they are two primitive tribes that are in competition. Snakes and Spiders are the enemies of goblins, because the snakes and spiders feed on the goblins.

Oww Froste... you cowered almost everything :O
I'd like to add something. All bosses are friends with a group of mobs that's circulating around them, helping the bosses by healing/buffing them, etc. because this would make the bosses more fun to fight.

Snakes are natural enemies of any little mammal such as hyenas or wolves, but tend to scape from big animals (for instance, giant hyenas).
Spiders are enemies of bugs, they're their food source. Liches help each other, and they're friends with any other summon.

Hm, dunno if this is only for inter-species-friendship, but i think (as was proposed elswhere some time ago) that monsters like hyenas and wolves should react in hordes/groups (or beetles in swarms).
Attack on hyena of a group (maybe marked with a common colour or sth) and the whole group goes for you. This would make area lvling a lot funnier. Ah, and cyclopses hate wesps because they get stung. Though i dont think theres any region where's both of them.^^ Oh and igneos should kill the tomb guards since they occupy their ruins and they must hate them as much es everyone. Z. |

I should add that all undead should be under the control of litches, lore dictates that litches are the living dead corpse of powerful warlocks that used their magic to keep their mind and soul tied to their dead bodies, and that they summon up the dead to serve under them as slaves.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have bears occasionaly attack daggerfangs/sabertooths or wolves, and vice versa, as all three of these creatures are high on the food chain.
IE: pack of wolves kills a bear IE2: bear kills a solo wolf IE3: daggerfang pack takes out a bear IE4: sabertooth pack vs wolf pack (would be awesome to watch ^^) So instead of a one on one relationship it would be a three way conflict, just like alsius, syrtis, and ignis. |

Tribe A (orc) dislikes Tribe B (aquantis) because Tribe A wants to hunt or fish in the waters of Tribe B. Tribe B will try to defend the waters.
Tribe C (orc) dislikes Tribe D(orc) becuase Tribe C had a disagreement over who owned the goblin slaves up on goblin mountain. Cyclops dislike other sentient/tribal beings because they have two eyes, and the other tribes make fun of the cyclops for having only one eye. ... (and maybe they said they smell bad) But animals don't bother them too much (however they consider wasp honey a delicacy, so they attack wasps) I can't speak for Warzone creatures because I haven't gotten there yet. (will be soon though) Undead generally dislike any living things, but especially dislike sentient creatures. (orcs/trolls/cyclops/players) Sabertooth types and wolf types really don't like undead creatures (ghosts in particular) but it's more like they are afraid of them, so they don't go near undead, or run away from them. Wasps and the like are extremely territorial and could have a hive mentality, so they will attack other creatures that they perceive being a threat. Beetles are generally easy-going, and aren't very aggressive, but they might try to aid/defend their own. Gryphonites could also be territorial, and have a very basic tribe or flock mentality (they don't use weapons, so I don't know if they're sentient or not) So maybe they're kinda like beetles, that they're not too aggressive but they will defend their brothers. About deletions
Hey ROL Players:
Unfortunately, some posts were deleted today since they were off the intended topic of this thread. The Title of this thread changed into a clearer "Factions Rivalries". You should know, however, that almost all of your comments about factions' behavior are in fact on the plans. Thanks for your comments. |
