Lightbulb Fusion Haven & Nemon (IDEA)

Hello,
I'm player of Nemon, I play there time ago, this server always has been practically empty, + or - 50 players counting all the server. Last months only Ignis open portal, they open portal many times in a day...
This realm is with very more people, doing the other realms practically useless on RvR, this realm kill al the bosses too, the others realms can't rgrp +-20 chars...

¿What happen?
-This is doing the game very bored, you can see times you are single in your realm and this result the game very bored... See how you can do nothing for help your realm...
You can think yes, there are always one realm who is top between the others, but at least you can go hunting and try to have fun but what happen? No people for be hunted the higher part of times.

Impact in few people on the server:
-Obviusly, less earnings.
-GM's who can help a lot of people more and not only a few community.
-Boring.
-Maintenance of this.
...

I purpose:
-I purpose a fusion Haven & Nemon, we can communicate across English, there are a lot of people who migrated from Nemon to Haven ( there are clan of frenchs on Haven ). So I think this end all the problems of this server (Nemon). I think is better than Valhalla & Nemon, because german is not much understable for us (and because there are already frenchs on haven...)

You can say, so do other char in other server: I talk in the name of Nemon, is not fun up other char lv 60 having others spent ximerin...

Sorry for my english.

I let you the topic. Comment! It's important the review of a GM too!

I wouldn't mind that. However, Nemon is under Gamigo, just like Valhalla...hard to judge the contracts, bui I'd say Valhalla + Nemon would be far more likely to happen, in my opinion.

What Hope said.

Anywho, I think what Haven needs is better marketing within the English speaking world. Steam was a good start but only a start. Buying space on Linux forums might help as well as have a strong presence at the multiple Cons that are always filling up hotels and kicking vacationers to cheap accommodations. What is that saying, you gotta spend money to make money?

Ra (+ Piranha now) is the server this game is coded for. Period. Haven, Nemon & Valhalla all have much smaller userbases & thus, game/invasion mechanic scale issues have been a problem for all 3 servers at times. A merger of all 3 isn't a bad idea at all in order to keep population on all existing servers nearly the same, so as to reduce these scale issues. There's nothing standing in the way of such a merger ... except NGD, GameSamba, Gamigo & the conundrum of their financial concerns, control, proprietary rights & responsibilities, exact expenses & profit %'s, etc. I don't expect such a merge anytime soon, but who knows? A Nemon/Valhalla merge is distinctly possible tho.

+1! Hi i'm a player of nemon too and im agree with him, the server is empty most of the time, making it very boring rvr experience or hunting. Nemon-Haven fusion or Nemon-Valhalla could be funny for Nemon players!

Groark is an unknown quantity at this point
Cool

Merges won't solve anything. We have seen quite a few in the past: Tyr-Horus, Raven-Horus, (next is Ra-Piranha). Did those merges rise the population? Only temporary. After that, population numbers dropped dramatically.
The question to be answered is 'why are the servers losing players'.

This is imho what causes players to leave:

Unbalance between premium-non premium players
Unbalance between realms population
Unbalance between classes
Random resists rates
Great amount of bugs (many of which affects the outcome of battles). Some of this bugs are deliverately provoqued by players.
RvR has suffered a big blow by TDM

and some more

Besides, each server needs an unique approach based on its amount of players and nationalities. You cannot treat small servers (like Haven) as if they were big servers (like Ra). Some aspects of the game work for big servers but not for small ones. And then there is need of a different approach for the French servers, for the German, for the English, for the Spanish... due to their different mentalities.

If you don't, see what happen.

So you see, merges won't solve anything.

Greetings

Really excellent points by Hopeakettu , Lebeau and Groark.

Krungle makes a good point about Linux penetration but sadly I think they missed the boat on that one. Based on discussions I had , it seems like the Linux support , servicing and development is quite lacking these days in comparison to times past. There was work on Macs but I am not sure of the status of that project.
I would say that is rather unfortunate. This has been one of the best titles for Linux in the genre.

Because of contractual issues, A Nemon/ Valhalla merge is the most likely outcome.

To be fair, NGD has made a lot of efforts to market the game through 3rd party, profit sharing schemes and other mechanisms. However, I always got the feeling that they were never quite ready for the highly competitive markets they were entering. In some way I think they underestimated and misunderstood the marketplace and its standard requirements.

Note that every marketing scheme got lots of interest. Every patch and expansion got lots of interest and returning gamers. So the marketing component in my view was quite successful .
Unfortunately, the game itself and its inability to hold the interest of those coming was the downfall. Underwhelming updates did play their part too. They were not bad. It is just that they were not slam dunks. NGD really needs a few slam dunks.

Lebeau makes the excellent point that the servers don't scale and are actually designed for a certain minimum population. Below that, mechanics break. We have all seen just how bad it gets when those mechanics break. Attempts have been made to remedy this but the issue has not been really resolved.
Of course, the addition of the "Invasions" expansion is what set it all off and made it a serious issue. Prior to that, there were imbalances but, its effect to demotivate was significantly less.

Had they insulated the warzone from the inner area and somehow changed the mechanics to allow lower levels from badly outnumbered realms to temporarily "level up" ( while not allowing the same for the more populated realms) and help in this war zone we might be seeing something different.

Groark asks and answers the serious question. Why can't certain servers retain population?
I think we all answered this question over the years.
Eventually, NGD begins to admit that maybe they miscalculated, slightly.

But, I don't think they did too badly.

the mods have asked me not to discuss my personal suggestion.
the solution in the past has been to reach a minimum population level.

but this has proven difficult. i think bois has the analysis generally right: CoR has been outcompeted in the past by more attractive mmo offerings, and there has been too much loss in new players who leave the game as they try to level. bois feels this can be remedied by more+better mid-level content. this is definitely a possible solution.

i tend to feel the overwhelming obstacle will still be realm numbers imbalance. However, if like on Ra, a minimum population is reached, realm numbers imbalance may be overcome.
