Game crashing
Hi
Im currently running Ubuntu (extremely new to linux, could barely install the game :P) After some time i finally got it working, the screen was flickering, but changing the resolution to desktop resolution fixed that, now I have a new problem... After a variable time spent in-game, the game completely freezes. Meaning I can't even move my cursor, and the only way to fix it is to force a restart through holding the power button. I have an ATI radeon mobility 9600/9700 graphics card, and I've read that this can cause some problems. Really hope u can help me with this, thanks for any suggestions. Datsnork |

Hitting ctrl, alt and backspace doesnt fix it? It kills the X session, so you should not have to restart the computer.
Sadly regnum is veeery unstable, get used to crashed, but this is a odd one, normally the game just closes, doesnt freezes. Does initializing the game in safe mode fix it?

Hehe, as I said I am very new to linux.
Basically I didnt know of the CTRL-backspace function :P Was spammin ctrl-alt-del, which strangely didnt work Will try that out, starting the game in safe mode didnt work since it caused the screen to flicker again, and I'd rather not develop epilepsy Thanks for the advice though |

I have sometimes the same problem
the game freezes xserver, which means that display, mouse and keyboard won't work, but all other processes are running one of the possibilities (heard of it, haven't tried) is to connect to the pc via ssh and restart xserver manually (sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart) this problem happens to me less than once a month but it does happen Ubuntu 8.04 ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 with newest fglrx drivers

You can use the really useful REISUB method.
Hold Alt+Print Screen and press the buttons R E I S U B in order on your keyboard. This will restart your computer at once, with no risks of file system corruptions, etc.

Thanks for the tip about the REISUB method, works like a charm
Would still like to fix the problem with having to restart every 5 mins though It happened once while in linux too now, hasn't happened before when I stay on it for longer periods, so I really don't know what to do |
