Ahh the bible, i love it when people bring up the bible. Where is your corroborating evidence in the bible that god has visited us. The bible is the work of man, re-written and translated again and again by man. Lets take etymology of a phrase for example. In the 60s you could say, "im going to lick you good", taken to mean im going to kick your ass. If you say the same thing now, a mere 50 years later, some thinks you are into some kinky gay stuff Even using the New Testament as an example, 2000 years is a VERY long time when it comes to evolving languages, and the style in which many of them are written are purely metaphorical, not to mention NOT ENGLISH NATIVE, who knows what political agenda the various translators have had, or what spin was put on it, intentional or not. Taken as a collection of proverbs i will indeed say that the bible has some value, but as a concrete chronology of the world since the dawn of the time, one has no choice but to deny it. It is contradictory to say the least. How many versions are there? How many branches for christianity are there? How many religious institutions take the EXACT same passage from the bible and preach from it mutually exclusive opinions. Just to bring up some hot button religion related issues......Abortion? There is nothing in the bible to endorse so called 'pro-life' position and in fact many passages where 'god' ordered his followers to kill pregnant women so that the sons of his enemies would not be born. Very similar for homosexuality, nothing explicitly says its a sin, nor even comes close, it was all about the buttsechs In the end, you have no reliable, verifiable evidence that holy or unholy beings are or have walked among us. I cannot say that i have any proof either of aliens, but there are far more alleged alien visitations than there are alleged angel visitations; who is to say that they are not mutually exclusive anyways. +1 to the flying spaghetti monster, i was wondering who was going to bring that up first.

Lets put this straight:
The bible was put together by a group of pagans to keep the East-Roman empire together, selecting only parts they liked and also including traditions from other religions to keep other people happy. Why do you think there's so much about obeying rules in the Bible? Also, science proves the books of Genesis and Exodus wrong.

I'm Christian, somewhere down the road. But I believe in what I have come to understand myself.
I for sure do not question the existence of God, but at time's I believe that all religions that follow monotheism are the same thing. They each follow a single being, although they do not follow each others beliefs because they feel theirs is superior. In Islamic culture they follow Muhammad as their prophet, just like Jesus is followed by Christianity, and Moses by traditional Judaism. Maybe they existed, maybe they did not, but all religion's point down the same line. Each just has different "rules" and "laws" That's all I need to say |

You probably became Christian because you were raised that way. But what if you were raised Muslim or Buddhist? I assume you would say the same as now, but then about that religion.

My final stance like I said is that I believe in a single God, and that is it. It doesn't matter which particular "group laws" I follow. |

well, it's the same all the time.
I am atheist, I am chrstian, I am muslim... that doesnt say anything, except that you are making your bet. No one wants to end dying and saying "oh, crap, i was wrong!" Without a REAL PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE(1), you are just making a bet, without any support. Well, maybe some of you think "if angels in bible are real, and aliens are real, and they look so similar (?), maybe they are the same". But... why do you think bible is real, or aliens are real? Share experiences! this is boring! [1] I know that is absolutely contradictory

So what about the dozens of other religions, the pantheonic religions, the so-called religions (Confucianism, Buddhism, etc) which are really philosophy and not religion.

You have 31337 posts, i just noticed that, was that a lucky coincidence or did someone fix your posts that way.
Edit: Bwahaha, clever, nice, got me with that one. The thing is, no one has any experiences that can be corroborated to anyone else's satisfaction.

As humans, we have to believe something that has been presented to us. What is presented to you depends on millions of factors, so many you cannot name them all. But I think its just best when everyone follows his or her own road. How do you know history is real? So many stories and different sides of what happened, but do you really accept all sides of the story? Or perhaps the side you were raised on. The same concept follows into religion, just that religion is much much easier to question and it comes first to questioning. You can question so many things that it's silly. Anyone can say for example that in the Russian/Georgian conflict there were bombings and murders. How do you know if those things actually occurred? Because you saw it on the TV, or heard it from someone. For all you know it could have never happened. It's always easiest to believe what you have seen yourself. To me those come in between monotheism and pure philosophy, and to them I'm sure monotheism is in between :P |

In fact, you can be religious and atheist at a time, as atheism only refuses the idea of god, not a set of religious practices. To this end, i would say that an antonym for "religion" is "rational thinking" And, religions are inmutable too, not like philosophy or science. Is people who cahnges from one belief to another, not the religion itself. See at all those "voo-doo + christian + witchcraft" psychics. Eventually, every religion and god will dissapear, as human kind discover more FACTS about REALITY. Few people today believe in Baco, Thor, or Xochiquetzal. Some of us (as atheists) are just one god ahead. Now, the personal X-periences!, please! Demon, you started all this crap, SHOW US THE ALIENS!
