What was your first thought when you played Regnum?

"HOLY SHIT THOSE BEAR HATS ARE COOL!" was my instant thought. as soon as i logged in my friend was there waiting. and that's what they had on...my thoughts on the game entirely: Awesome.

first mmorpg I tried so:

lvl1: ooo, nice and simple....
lvl2: uh, why's everyone speaking spanish?
lvl7: me - "DOES ANYONE SPEAK ENGLISH HERE???"
Sir Edward (?) - "I speak english"
me - "oh thank G-"
crashed

gave up and forgot about regnum

1 year later I came back and now think: "best game ever!!"

Hmm... I heard about regnum from a friend (wudin look what you've done to me!!!)
I guess he convinced me with the fact that i could be a goat and a knight!
Loved it as soon as I started playing the mobs, all those unexplored lands, the quests (yes, i actually followed the stories and thought all that was awesome )...

2 things that imediatelly came to my mind when i started playing: "I'll get to 50 in no time", and "omg i'll never talk to anyone in realm chat, that's so geek and i'm way too embarassed to do that"... I wonder how all that went down the drain...

Lol, sorry about the really short quote but this is basically what I thought at first.

I always considered MMORPGS to be games played by complete idiots, WoW kiddies, no-lifers with absolutely no social skills, bearded fat dudes who live in their parent's basement, etcetera (Don't get too mad now, it gets better)

And still I gave it a go, without really knowing why. I was bored, had nothing much to do and wanted to at least try it out and see my prejudices confirmed. I chose Regnum because it was free, linux friendly and I had read something about it on some blogs (with my usual dosage of skepticism).

At first, it was exactly what I thought it would be. Although the questing and lvling up was kind of fun. Realm chat was filled with idiots (I actually switched back and forth from Alsius to Syrtis and back to Alsius because of it).

Gradually I met some people in game who didn't seem to be complete retards, had a life beyond the game and we're just cool people who all happened to play the same game (and some were even really female \o/ ).

That and the urge to get to lvl 50 asap, the everlasting quest for IMBA items (still looking for my epic +7 const, + 150 HP, +150 mana Medusa btw), and the way war was played just got me hooked to the game.

Finally, there's the 'beta feel' this game still has. We all complain about the nerfs, the crashes and the bugs. And most of the time with reason. However, the recurring question "What will they change (aka nerf) now?" is kind of addictive as well.

My first chatline was something like: "can you help me? i dont know how to attack" looking at Garaesh, the Initiation guide.
