Black screen of despair

I have just installed the game, and I am now met with a problem before I have even started playing. When I click "play" a black screen with techno-bable appears, and doesn't go away. I have had this twice and each time I have had to take out my battery to restart my computer. Do I have to wait for longer than 5 minutes or does this mean Regnum isn't going to work on my computer.

The game normally launches in less than 30 secs. If you're expecting an answer from the official support team, Saturday's maybe not the best idea, and you should detail your hardware and software (OS, etc).

The black screen with random text on it is normal. I always get it. Except it usually doesn't last very long.

Try setting the game to run in windowed-mode (use the options button next to the play button) so you can close it if something bad happens.

It's quite normal that RegnumOnline.exe asks for connection rights to a firewall and you have to accept them. But how will you do that if the game window blocks the screen? Start in windowed-mode.

Try shutting down the anti-virus and firewall to see if that works.
