What's with the crashes?

Hi,

I started playing again yesterday and allready i have crashed 8 times deu to unknown errors.
Is the server unstable or could it be my computer/internet?

None of them. It's the regnum client that is very unstable when some options are activated.

I'm playing in safe mode, so i don't know if there are any options left to deactivate .

It is a very common problem, I see all the time my clan members crashing and I am crashing around every 30minutos (in war every 10minutos, yeah, funny ) -
I have an open support ticket since 19th of august where I reported more than 50 crashes con detailed descriptions and backtraces;
the so far only reply from NGD was the suggestion to reinstall the whole game (which does not change anything)

I suggest you to install a linux distribution.
Regnum is very stable on linux. Just tick off "weapon trails".

I can second what nel says. Only crashes i got are when i change between chars. Still i continue to send them crash logs and description.

Won't I have other compatibility issues with other programs when I switch to linux from windows?

I don't know a thing about computers. I just click programs and it works. I've been using windows my entire life and the only problem I have with it, is the many RO crashes.

You can install it as secondary OS and select which OS to start when you boot...

However my Regnum client is crashing all the time under Linux (i don't have Windows) so I doubt if changing the OS will help

That was the common way like 5 years ago.. forget it

1) make a full backup of your harddisk (if something fails)
2) run a full disk defragmentation in Windows (command: defrag)
3) start the installation with one of the well known Linux distributions (openSUSE, Ubuntu, ...)
4) the Linux installer will make a setup recomendation to install the system beside your existing Windows
