I'm surprised that people aren't flooding to Alsius because of dwarves if you think they like LOTR. IMO people just join Syrtis because they think it's the 'good guy' side.

Boci, I would not say so. if the balance will be corrected in the future - you're back? back. Take a break, a break even in 2 years maybe ... Just watch, watch as I do.

To the OP: You're leaving Haven to join another server because you can't stand losing? All realms have their ups and downs and if you can't handle the downs then sadly this style of game is not suited for you. Moving to another server might temporarily make you happy but when the power shift moves and you're back to being on the losing realm... then what? jump to another server that's winning? If "winning" is your top priority, there are plenty of mmorpg's out there that do not have a faction/realm system that would suit you better. I would personally suggestion Runes of Magic. |

Syrtis have always been the stronger realm, just what bois said...they logged on at 2am and pew pew'd our guards and doors and took gems.
Then they went to sleep Now, syrtis invades whenever we want, and we do it too often. Doing so makes things get worse, more warmasters and longer exp bonusses. How bad could it be when we had 4 people with draconic gem?? Anyway, good luck and piranha |

As has brought to my attention by a PM , I would say that there is an imbalance and not necessarily overpopulation.
What is the server cap, 1200 ? After so many years, shouldn't we be close or hitting that regularly ? If not then the server is generally underpopulated. In other words, Syrtis comes closest to what a normal population should be like with a fully subscribed server. As I wrote many times before, the game design was meant for a certain base population of each realm to be always on. NGD never managed to hit that critical minimum mass 24 hours per day. Because populations flux below this minimum level often, basic gameplay mechanics become fragile. With the positive feedback loops that Beacons and Warmasters expansion provides to superior numbers, having even 5 more of the right classes than your opponent produces exponential results. This is why I wait with much interest to the way NGD seeks to grapple with the WM powers and Invasion mechanisms. (this is supposedly what is next on the roadmap and being worked on.) Regards |

The problem Bois, is even if one realm has "just" 15 players online, if the other realms have "just" 5 players online...
That's an outnumbering ratio of 3:1. Even 2:1 is considered fairly extreme. With current game mechanics, the difference between 10 players and 15 palyers can be catastrophic, once they start chugging beacons. Moreover, even if both groups are completely even, the group with more higher levels (mostly premium scrollers), better gear (premium boxers), and Warmasters will win more often, regardless of how good you play or what tactics you use. It has some effect, but not as much as one would hope for. There can be no balance as long as Offensive beacon exists, because no "tactics" work. The whole lifehood that Alsius survived on from 2007-2009 was rendered compeletely meaningless by the introduction of level 60 (tons on HP, armor, mana, and power points) and Warmaster powers. All other underpopulated realms, or those caught outside their peak activity, suffer the same problems. |

I think I always have, regarding WM expansion. As you notice , I strike at those points regularly ever since WM hit the production servers. Warmaster Expansion caused a runaway positive feedback loop for the greater populated army and thus exaggerated a negative feedback loop for the lesser army. There is no diminishing returns at all. |
