Ati just released the 8.42 driver! Upgrade today for performance, and stability increases!!!!

Not a problem! Enjoy, I have not had any problems, and user reports are wonderful. 8.42 is being released after 8.41 (beta, and only recommended for the HD series), and it will have AMAZING performance increases over 8.40. Plus AIGLX support if you like Compiz-Fusion.

@ Myxir : :-) understandable, but now your not opensourced like ATI! hahahah

Personally I don't care about open-source concerning drivers. In fact I would prefer open-source but if proprietary drivers are better I would choose them.

But I think 8.42 is NOT open-source?

Correct, this is a proprietary driver, i was simply stating that Nvidia has yet to open their drivers for open source. I agree as well that I don't care about OSS if the vendor driver is worth it, but it would be nice to see Nvidia and ATI 3D support as easy to do as Intel's.

I bet this will come in the future. Dunno if long term or the nearer future.
ATI made a really good step towards the right direction.
Other vendors will open their drivers soon, I bet.
Industry is starting to see that Linux is gonna be an interesting and important market.
So hope is not lost
