Please could we have custom avatars enabled on the forum? - Page 2

I wouldn't mind much if people have custom avatars, but I goddamn hate sigs with images that take up much more space than their post's content. That's where I draw the line with vanity

Oh I agree, I hate dumb animated *SO* not funny icons to... I just wanted something more cute and personal. I appreciate there's no way to filter out people who want to have something really annoying...

You can prevent animated avatars by not allowing gifs to be used.

You could probably also use imagemagick (maybe even ffmpeg if imagemagick doesn't work) to detect animated avatars and reject them, or just convert the gif to a jpg once it's uploaded.

The problem is moderation.

Without a proper, full-time moderator, some abuses could take place. Like uploading "diry pics".

I think that with the avatars available it's good for now. When NGD hires a moderator, then we can be allowed to customize our avatar image.
