Mobbing
I'm currently a lev 40 Marksman, and I'm looking for more efficient ways to gain exp.
Any suggestions on best Mobbing strategies/locations/monters?

I think the best way is to have a basic damage setup: little or no dmg skills, a slow bow, recharged arrows and the dex passive in short bows or the dmg passive in long bows do a nice job. Combine it with death sentence and a few other marksmen with the same or simillar setup and there you go. The key is to find a good spot where you don´t need to go look fon another mob every once in a while. When you get to 44 you can lvl at meleketi beach, but you depend mostly on big parties until lvl 46. Good news is you can focus all your points to dealing damage, since it´s a safe zone.
Another tip: check the different types of bows. The execution longbow, for example, does about 10-20 more dmg than a normal range 30 slow longbow, but it´s range 25 instead. |

i never used death sentence while grinding.
I mastered the walking backwards in between the shots and only using 1-2 spells per mob. Shield piercing, ethereal arrow, serpent bite ... thats the way to go that way you can almost level non-stop to level faster team up with other marksmen. Its most effective. |

The method explained by Twix is a standard and effective grinding method for all archers, it also helps you learn to time your weapon speed prop'ly so you know how to move and cast efficiently in battle. We ought to make a training vid of that method for all archer newbies to learn from.

Yeah but with death sentence and a slow bow mobs go down in 3 or 4 shots. Fast and low mana cost (170 DS + recharged arrows) almost no need to rest. I´ve always liked the combination of a medium bow with skills but since I tried slow bows... well I think I´m doing faster =P
edit: it was 170, not 190. 190 is the cost of ignus scorch. I kinda had it all mixed up :P Last edited by El_Naso; 12-20-2007 at 06:23 AM. |

Naso, you're now far from 37 as far i know, now lvl 5 skills mana cost is no more a big deal. Using your method at my marks current level (29) = 40% of my mana. With EA + basic shot, i can level non-stop using the "standard " method... and a short bow (quite unusual for a marks ), i just rest when EA is resisted, so no more long resting |

Not the same damage ; if you alternate rep shot/lighning arrow and use ignus scorch to finish mobs, you can kill a good bunch of mobs all the 1m30s.
That can be even better if you're with a warlock (+terror/crystal blast/blaze). This one i've tested with Vengala it was nice, because (lightning arrow and terror) at range 30 makes mobs coming on you like they're one, so no angle/distance problems We were lvl 43 at this time. My imagination has no limit when it comes to area leveling... and as Demon says it pays to be creative. With gold and many many items ^^ |
