Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh! Someone insulted Ubuntu AND Linux!
You have defeated Ertial Rye. It is a bug in the nVidia drivers. We'll just have to wait for an update or nouveau to be ready. Linux can work really good with games, since there are no tons of background services, but there aren't many games. But you might want to try Sauerbraten, Regnum Online and others. Even EVE Online has a Linux client!
