Screen Problem
Hello, I have a problem. When the game goes into full screen, I get this annoying message:
Attention Signal Frequency out of range The game will continue to run fine but this message won't go away. I think the monitor is the one displaying the message. All my other programs run fine but this is the first time I ran a 3D game on this particular box. I'm running ubuntu linux. Could anyone help me? |

It's called xinerama and is basically a hack to create a single display that is twice as wide (thus stretching over two monitors), one way is to play regnum windowed in one display only, but you might have to turn off xinerama to get a fullscreen game on a single display only. Note this doesn't mean you have to stop using two monitors, here's the difference:
With xinerama it's as I explained, a single display that is twice as wide, meaning you can drag stuff between the two monitors. Then you have dualhead, which means your X server will create 2 displays, one for each monitor, you can move the mouse between them and start things on each display, but you can't drag things between them. There might be some way making regnum display fullscreen in only one monitor and still using xinerama but I have no idea how to do that, you're going to have to google and educate yourself on xinerama, personally I can't stand xinerama so when I use a two-monitor-setup, I always use the dualhead mode. If you're using an nvidia card it might also be possible to tweak the settings in the nvidia driver itself (thru modification of the xorg.conf), nvidia's implementation of xinerama is called TwinView.

Ok let's see, one possible solution to this is to run the second monitor at a different resolution, let's say 800x600 for argument's sake, then set the client to start in 800x600, then tell your window manager to remove any fluff on that display including window borders and everything, and what you'll end up with is an 800x600 regnum that is windowed, but still fullscreen... it's a bit convoluted though (: But the option for this for TwinView is called "MetaModes" (check /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA-something/README )
I did miss something last time though, when you said force a resolution I assumed you meant X, but if you mean regnum you can specify the resolution yourself in $REGNUM/game.cfg -- if you scroll down to the [video_graphics] section in that config file, there are two entries called vg_screen_height vg_screen_width I think you can set a custom resolution there (sometimes there's a conf in the live directory too, either remove this one so it only uses the conf in the root dir, or make sure both have matching vg_screen* variables) Other than that I don't really know, I stopped using TwinView (and xinerama) for just this reason, and instead opted for dualhead.
