My experience is not so bad with controls, but I've been playing for 3 weeks with AZEQSD key. However the camera is as unpleasant as I tested it on Amun, and it's beurk even with both new settings off.
My sweet heart that plays a bit less had a really HUGE problem with controls and since she can't reaffect the key she clicked on exit because she was always standing still in fight (not able to move) and started a new campain on Battle for Wesnoth. As Znurre and Addaloe already stated Game seems to run smoothly now. However there is a lot of work to do on the HMI I think. Because most of the canceled attack provokes a WTF effect for players (even if it's player's fault). NGD, a player must be aware (through feedback) of what is happening to his character. If one of my attack is canceled I have to get a feedback of that, not waiting for the laggy log to not display my skill. I already saw some nice straffing usage (Yenro aka Enio on Amun showed me some nice strafing skill in a PvP). I try to use it when I feel it's the good moment, but sometimes I still mess up a bit and end in a WTF state in my brain. So for me the update is good and bad, here is a summury: - Control and camera: Bad - Strafing: Potientially useful (at least for range users). - Position: Smoother. - Warrior state: autohit not working well with new speed (+20%) or positions still not accurate enought. On a global balance I feel like the last updates has put hunter over the top once more due to the modification of speed (onslaught and general +20%) and winter stroke range decrease. On the other hand marksman are gonna be more playing with tricks and more be PITA than they were.

My experence with this update has been mixed between bad and worse:
Grinding: didn't make much difference got used to the new controls, killed a few hunters that decided to charge me when i was low on health, thanks heaps to the friendly grinding groups hunting for those gems Wars: Very hard to select someone, I seem to click on them, and they are not selected, doing this a few times to finally get them, or should I say there dead body selected. Luckly we have sanc to protect us still so we can stuff ass around trying to select the person yelling "VIDA" in the group.... shame it's over before it really started (or so it seems in the heat of battle) Inside Imp Castle: I noticed almost everyone teleporting around inside, this makes it even more fun with the above to select someone before they are dead. Auras: I love seeing my auras run all the time, makes me forget I need to recast them as I see them running all the time.... was nice to see sanc running too, funny it decided to start after I got mind squashed. It seems if you are knocked down during a cast now, when you get back up you get the animation for it... while it's not running ofcourse. Please NGD, remove ALL my spells and give me a quicker mount... and a spell book of ressys.... You have really gone and done it to conju's now, better move saves closer.... make movemet speed quicker... we will all need this as less and less conjus are playing /me finds grinding is warlock more fun than playing is conju after this update |

I forgot to add, HP bars seem to bounce alot more often now. I also see people with less than full HP bars and yet I can't heal them because "Target is not wouinded".

I noticed too the problem mentions by Viperdh and Galynn:
- HP bar isn't accurate (jumping all the time) - Selection is painful (it always has been but it seems worst with the awkward camera moves).

I really like the new update. I see no sense why Regnum would need strafing but i still love the new movement system. It's well done.
With "invert player/camera rotate" controls seem perfect for me. I can select targets in war. The only thing I absolutely don't like is that the max zoom out is that close. IMO the field of view is too small. But I think that has FPS reasons

I agree with Myxir that the field of view is too close, it needs to go further back from the player. I modified my controls like a lot of other. But i only switched A and D, with Q and E to ease myself into the new changes.

Me too, let's hope NGD will fix it (revert to old max distance at least).

My first strafing experiance was with Yenro who hit me when I was a 3/4 health, and even with charge I could not get close enough to hit him.
He ran circles around me firing the whole time. Makes me want to be a hunter, because as it is, hitting a ranged class just got harder.

Anyway, on Ra skilled again on spears for max balestra and feint until I feel comfortable enough to drop them. I've been testing the past few weeks on Amun and I saw the difference between who did it and who didn't on fort wars. After a balestra I only had to check enemy facing (keyboard users) to counter it with strafe and land series of successful hits from behind. Playing archers is even more simple. On Horus everyone is busy to ensure that in 1 month from now they can claim themselves as great players with WTF weapons once again. But I did logged for a fort war and had much more troubles using blunt and having to rely on quick runs to escape certain death (my pt knight isn't THAT tough), found myself running towards the enemy more times then it was advisable. Positional issues seem still present, not landing a kick when we are *inside* the adversary running after them still happens. The overall direction given to this game is far from pleasing me as consumer... but for some stupid reason can't stop logging in it. As for the gems and sockets: bah... Give player a system that allows them to manufacture their weapons as perfectly as any premium user (and I am one... was... :P), rewarding their time spent doing it, preferably in WZ achievements, not fcking PvE for christ sake!
