Default Game Crashes Constantly

Just installed Regnum. Made another character and tried to start playing. The game crashed the first time right after the first quest. and now crashes randomly, sometimes as soon as the opening cinematic.

My setup ran the game perfectly earlier in the year when I played it last. Only Difference is I have a fresh install of Ubuntu now, I was on 8.10.

P4 2.0 Ghz
4 Ghz DDR
GeForce 6600 GT
Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic

Any help is appreciated.

9.10 is still bit unstable. I had many problems, especially RO related on 9.10.
I returned to 9.04 and it works ok.
Also, do you use sound?
If I heard correctly, sound can make many crashes, and here was offered solution: http://www.regnumonline.com.ar/forum...ad.php?t=51051

About ALSA, if it is making some problems, you can do following:
Quote:
sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils
then
Quote:
sudo apt-get install linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils
What is important to pay attention to is, if first command will remove you gdm and ubuntu-esktop packages. In that case, you ll need to restore them after you apply second command, with this:
Quote:
sudo apt-get install gdm ubuntu-desktop
If all passed ok, you should be able to see your sound card by typing
Quote:
aplay -l
In case you dont hear sound, check if volume is up on desired channels by typing
Quote:
alsamixer
and if you want to store settings you applied and be sure its loaded after every boot, this might help:
Quote:
sudo alsactl store 0
As for game crashes, it would be helpful to tell us what console throws when game crashes.
