Ok, well i tried surak's method today and it worked. However - the needed registry keys were not present and i had to create them manually.
Its quite easy and straightforward, you just have to make sure to select the right folders and to doublecheck for correct spelling.

Here a screen of it working:

@Imago, you are probably on 32 Bit windows and should try it with the 32Bit ones.

How to start Regedit:
1. Click Start, then click Run.
2. Type "Regedit", then click OK.

How to create the needed keys:
For 32Bit well need a key structure like the following
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NGD Studios\RegnumOnline
  1. Go into regedit and locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE, if you dont have a folder named "NGD Studios" in there you need to create one by right clicking on "SOFTWARE" -> New -> Key (Should be the topmost entry). Enter "NGD Studios" as name of the new key.
  2. Next youll need a folder "RegnumOnline" inside the newly created one. Right click "NGD Studios" folder and do the same procedure as before, just name the new folder "RegnumOnline".
  3. Next youll have to put the renderizer option into that folder. Select the folder and right click into the window on the right. In the popping up context menu, select New -> String Value. A new Reg_SZ thingie will have appeared. Set its name to "ForceRenderizer".
  4. Next right click it and select "Edit", now you can modifie its value (which is still empty) - we want it to be "opengl" so just type that in there and accept.

Now when you start CoR it should automatically use OpenGL as renderizer.

For 64Bit systems you need to create the following folder structure in regedit, it works the same as for 32 Bit, just one more folder is needed.
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NGD Studios\RegnumOnline
Hope it works for you as it did for me, as i could only test it on 64Bit Windows.

If you have troubles with editing the registry, let me know. I could also create a file that adds the needed folders and keys automatically (by importing it via regedit), if needed.

Regards!
