Sitting does NOT cancel Stalker Surroundings. I just tested it in ignis.
What you can do in Stalker is:
1) sit and stand up
2) change your cam ankle
3) change between combat mode and offguard.

And it is okay that you can be tracked while you are invisible.
You have to think how to use it best.
Let a few people remain visible, let the fight start a few seconds and then turn visible. you will have no focus then and BAM!
And Mobs still get agro, I tested it in ignis as well a few minutes ago.
The pet vanishes too when using stalker.
