Game crashing

Hi

Im currently running Ubuntu (extremely new to linux, could barely install the game :P)
After some time i finally got it working, the screen was flickering, but changing the resolution to desktop resolution fixed that, now I have a new problem... After a variable time spent in-game, the game completely freezes. Meaning I can't even move my cursor, and the only way to fix it is to force a restart through holding the power button. I have an ATI radeon mobility 9600/9700 graphics card, and I've read that this can cause some problems. Really hope u can help me with this, thanks for any suggestions.
