I would say: Use these new skills and items/equipment and create a "Warmaster" subclass (and other new sub-classes).
Create another (second) "more characters roll", sell booster for leveling this "Warmaster", create new items for him, and sell mounts.
No one will really complain or even quit playing then. You are hitting the people most, that are buying most things the way you have conceptualized this update.
