Haha well it seems always the same. Thats a huge reason why i prefer to 1. only pvp on amun and 2. only with selected people from which i know they understand the value of PvP correctly.
IMHO: Theres no consistent 1v1 balance. It greatly varies between classes, configurations, settings. Set up PvP allows you to try out your general config in various set up situations. I.E. it allows you to develop tactics *for your build and for a similar situation in war*, teaches you to automate actions and reactions so you can concentrate better for other thoughts, be it broader tactical decisions, watching surroundings and allies actions and make on-the-fly adjustments. Its a sandbox and it can be big fun when you do it with friends who grasp this. When you discuss and give tips helping eachother to understand better and develop. By pointing out flaws you can learn to get around them, by pointing out particular strengths you can learn to not let them happen on your opponent side. Its kind of like sparring in boxing. For me it loses its use when you make it "competitive". It doesnt work out to be fun with people who grow their ego on that. They totally miss the point. I miss skipio for that matter. That awesome fun barb who i had endless pvp on amun at some point, back when it was quite a task to 100% win vs em as marks with mediocre gear. These friendly PvP made me a better player - not a PvPer, because it allowd me to understand the small scale to embed into the big scale of usual RvR and class interaction. The whole metagame you start to see once you know evry move of evry class for its own, which allows you to find the better RvR config for your needs and develop broader scale tactics all started for me in friendly and constructive set up PvP. So in this spirit - go PvP as much as you can - but only with the right people as its really not fun with the wrong ones and not really helpful either. |
