This isn't always true, it just depends on the person, especially the layout of their desk, keyboard, etc. For example, if you have RSI like me, making those big finger movements to the number keys from WASD is difficult, compared to a small mouse movement (when mouse or trackball is set to very high DPI).
Also, casting spells with keyboard means to take hand partially off of WASD, interrupting movement to some degree.
There are definitely some spells where casting with the keyboard is important, such as Ambush after Winter stroke (for Marks), or Will Domain around an object (Lock/Conj), but for the most part if you are spamming some key to cast a spell, you probably aren't moving around enough, creating a vulnerability. Its best to properly balance that vulnerability with getting a spell off earlier; sometimes the risk of getting caught is too high to be worth risking a spell resist.
As for drag icon problem, well that's NGD 's problem not player's problem. Fights are often lost by bugs of many kinds and that can't be helped.
I think that players need to develop their own way of playing and be proud of it. Competition does nothing here; if a player is more effective playing how they ilke rather than how someone else wants them to, then they are a bigger asset in battles. Their playing style should be suited around their real life circumstances, including their physical enivonment and taking into account any health problems that they have, to ultimate maximise their effectiveness to allies.
