what is the point of the darkness at night in the game ?

Did not play for some time.
Noticed some changes.
When i play now (playing RA) most of the time i enter it is night in RA and dark so i hardly see anything. Reason of course to stop playing right away.
Anyone got any clue what the point of this is, or is there a time frame on which it is prefered no players are in the game ?
Everyone i spoke dislikes the darkness at night so do not see what the point of this is.
Anyone got a clue ?
