There are no clear rules, sadly. Would be nice if NGD and GS sat together and updated and shared ideas with each other as to what their rules are. Then share the final result with us! Just take a look and see what people commonly report, what people get banned for etc... and make some rules in writing out of this!
This almost never works now. Both Alsius and Ignis (when Colssus was playing) have got the gems out several times by waiting until after invasion. This can be done either by stalkering a sizeable group that can break the inner door and cap the gate, or hiding a Hunter in the gate to recap it at a later time.

Gem isn't even supposed to be pickable while safe, but that doesn't work either. I guess all of this was removed when relics system was added...

As far as I can tell, "realm safety" no longer exists. The outer door simply regenerates too fast without dragon, that is all.

I don't know how much of this is intentional, or bugs. For example, sometimes when we go to invade a realm, their *own gems* are often in their *portal*, not at the pedestals where they are supposed to be after a reset. We still haven't quite figured out why this happens.

NGD really needs a bettter Quality Assurance team...
