They are not a complete waste of time. When leveling solo, easy mobs guarantee you faster kills for the fraction of the hp and mana costs compared to blue mobs. Those faster kills will eventually give you more xp over time. I did this a lot back when I was leveling my conjurer because my timezone meant that I would almost be leveling solo.

It's something else with cooldown/mana supply when you're a warlock, Not only do you get better xp but maybe also a chg bonus
