Trust me a cat can do much more then a dog, but you have to know their personality. And a personality isn't something that a dog comes with, for either they obey or not (and those that don't we call dumb or vicious)...

I didn't say that (well, I didn't
want). Both cats and dogs are intelligent, but cats are smarter than dogs in some tasks and vice versa.
I had a german shepherd that was very protective and smart. She knew the tactical spots of the house, so when a stranger came to our house she could watch him (or her) all the time. There's a small corridor that separates the house in two halves. She knew a place to hide and watch almost every movement on the house.
My cat, on the other hand, is kind of dumb for those things (such as finding a place hide and hunt birds in the backyard or monitoring the activity in the house), but she is really good at solving puzzles (like getting food from the closed packs and stuff).
Animals are different, even the ones from the same species. I think you can't compare them :P
