Do debuffs give xp?

I use a ninja hunter setup in the wz, but use pets to level. However, I am getting tired of respecing to pets, and want to try and use the ninja way to level.

Without the pet though, the hunter's damage is diminished, and I am worried this will reduce the xp I get. I don't have many points in bows, opting instead for high tricks, evades and scouting.

Is xp awarded for the debuffs I might use such as Ambush or Ensaring Arrow? Or is it pointless to try and level as a ninja?
