Default New technology - Public Test Feedback 1

# Brief description

· Introduction

We've uploaded to Amun a new version of Regnum Online working under the new graphic engine. For this first test stage we will need all users to update their DirectX versions, Runtime of Visual C++ and get the latest video card drivers. The launcher or installer will eventually do this but not for this first stage.

· Supported hardware

By now the only supported video cards will be nVidia GeForce (6 or superior) and ATI Radeon (x1300 or superior). Those users with other video cards will also be able to test this new version, but we remind you that we are still in a beta stage and you may have several issues, specially with untested video cards. As time goes by we will enhance the support and performance of all supported hardware. We remind you again that this is the first public beta version of the new technology.

# Goal

· Stability test and hardware compatibility

The first stage of public test has testing hardware compatibility and stability as a goal. Most of the optimizations that enhance the game's performance will be disabled to test the stability first. As soon as we consider that the game is working stable, we will start to enable those optimizations.

# Procedure

· Steps to test

To be able to use the actual version in Amun you will need to install or update the following runtimes and drivers:

Download Visual C++ 9.0 Redistributable

Download DirectX

Download nVidia drivers

Download ATI drivers

· Posting rules
  • You must specify the used PC hardware settings in one line: Processor, Video Card, RAM Memory, Operating System.
  • Do not point out simple visual errors. Only if those represent an incorrect functionality as the disappearing of a whole city or of all the creatures of a zone, etc.
  • Indicate performance problems, crashes and general misfunctionality of the game and the zones where it happens.
  • All questions about the procedure, installation or the new technology must be conducted in the thread for that means. If they are placed in this thread, they will be deleted.
  • Any post that doesn't comply all this rules will be deleted without further notice. Please do not insist, it's necessary to maintain order for us to gather feedback in a reasonable timespan.
# Disclaimer

· Stability

This version may have several compatibility and/or performance issues, which are because of this being the first test version and doesn't reflect a final or last stage test version.

· Known issues
  • OpenGL is not working right now. DO NOT enter in this rendering mode (we will upload a working version right away).
  • Shadow Quality/Resolution is not working properly.
  • Crash while changing View Distance.
  • In certain hours with the sun in the horizon there are shadows that are casted where they shouldn't.
  • Local lights are disabled.
  • The grass may be darkened (illumination issues).
  • Crash when exiting in Direct3D.
  • Objects that are not being shown correctly (waterfalls, houses, spider cave, etc).
  • Most spells are not being seen correctly.
  • Problems when phantoms appear (blending/alpha).
