What to do to get XP/drops from bosses?

I was a bit infected by all this hype about boss drops. I saw war banner that Alasthor is about to respawn and went there with my lvl 50 marksman.

I used all my damage spells and high basic shoots on the dragon but did not get any experience or gold...and no drop of course

Is there 10% damage rule at bosses too?

Another question: Beeing in a party has advantage your hit chance/spell focus is higher on target and you do more damage, right?
