Quite long but not forever
Depends on how fast your internet connection is and how many updates there are. After you get past the login screen make sure that you checked the box option that says "Update all new resources at once".

After the intro screen, wait until all the updates are done. You only need to do this once when you start for the first time and also whenever there's a minor update from NGD which usually don't take too long.

I don't have that checked, and I don't mind. You'll get into the game faster the first time, and will have to wait a bit for a download each time you enter a new area, but it isn't that bad.

I was thinking that he might have had the same problem as mine when I started out. My game kept crashing and only started to work after I enabled "Upadte all at once". Besides, it's only for once in a while.
