Default How come NGD people.....

I am just curious... How come some of NGD staff don't have the usual Spanish last names. I will be the 1st to admit I know nothing about Argentina other then the issues prior and after WW2 with Germans all moving to South America. But so far the few last names I seen seem Polish and German. I ask this in all honesty and I am not trying to troll. I just never thought that Argentina would be a top-anything place to emigrate coming from Europe other than Spain of course.

During the 1880's and for many time since then, Argentina promoted inmigration from Europe, because they wanted the country to be less "barbarian" and more "civilized", wich are both relative [as Sarmiento (an important political figure during the 1860's) dictates "Civilization and Barbarism"]. Also, they thought that with some european blood here, the country would rise. Mainly, Italian and Spanish people moved to Argentina, however people from all europe came here. During the first WW we were called "The world's mill" (el granero del mundo) because we sold wheat to the countries that were in trouble, and also, people from europe came to our lands looking for shelter.

Inmigration is the reason why my grandfather and grandmother are Spanish and Italian, and why I am an european citizen that was born and lives in Buenos Aires.

Greetings!
