Hey man, if you ever have any questions, or need critiques or help on anything, pop over to the home recording connection forums. We've got a lot of talented and experienced home studio guys as well as gigging musicians and studio guys in the biz. It's a great place, no dramarama, and everyone around there is helpful and friendly. I go by the name J-Bot on those forums.

There's a lot of info, and a lot of tips if you read around a bit too.

Edit: right, linky: http://www.homerecordingconnection.com

I like this one, too. It really isn't very complex, (amazing how good recordings sound when they aren't compressed) but I like it.

Mhh... You want to learn, want to write proper instrumental music? Yeah, not very easy. Most stuff you usually listen to is centered around vocals, and fact is - you can't produce anything if you aren't used to it. You should listen to instrumental music or even some classical stuff (there's pretty amazing classical music out there, most just don't know it :P) and analyze it, find out which parts you like and sort out those you dislike, learn how they manage to get some diversity into their pieces (most instrumental music is still very primitive, you know... Just hides it better And you really aren't far away from it, e.g. listen to U.S. Christmas, your last song kind of remembered me of them, don't know) that's how you'll develop your own style. Or how you can start to write more complex stuff without losing your style.
And hey, some parts of your songs already are very "proper" instrumental music (there's one part at 3:05 in just don't sue me that I really enjoy a LOT - wouldn't know anything to improve there, more complexity is just a matter of taste), so no need to call yourself a noob. :P I'm looking forward to more stuff from you!

Ps: One thing bugs me, though... You're primarily drummer (?) and there are no crazy drum solos?!

@Vaylos: Nice site, reminds me that I should spend more time with very unknown amateurs again, instead of hunting down the last few bands that don't participate in the loudness war. (Compressed music sounds so awful on better speakers)

I think you've misunderstood my intentions somewhere along the line. In no way, shape or form, am I attempting to create instrumental music, the stuff I write is 100% conventional vocal based music. The only reason there are no vocals is that... Well. I could bang a mic against a wall for 5 minutes and the output would be far better than what my derpy english voice could produce.

Like Mira said, if you could snag Corey Taylor for me, that'd be great. ;D

Haha, a time and a place, a time and a place!

One thing is for sure though, playing a drum solo IRL is much easier than writing one in my recording software!

Maybe having to write drums, guitar and bass for every song means that I compromise on "flashy-ness" in return for a song that combines the input of each instrument in a more suitable fashion.

In my real life band, where I just play drums, I can go all out then, as drums is my sole thought. (And being a drummer, my thought capacity is already limited. )

Hehe yes I know, sadly instrumental music isn't popular at all. But why don't you make a virtue of this necessity? :P Maybe you'll start to like it anyway :P And music with vocals doesn't necessarily have to be primitive. Most bands use vocals as an excuse for primitive songs, yeah, but the better ones don't. "Instrumental" music + vocals = Sparta :P
But I wonder... do you plan to find someone for vocals for this? Where do you want to go? (100% vocal based music without vocals... ) Another project because your normal band isn't metal enough? Good luck with this, then. (Good singers are rare. Very rare, but via the internet...)

Oh yes forgot about that. A valid excuse, I guess.

Is there any band member without typical jokes? "Did you hear about the electric bass player who was so bad that even the lead singer noticed?"

Here's another one, fresh out the oven.

Click me, or don't. You know, whatever works best for you. But yeah, click me anyway.

I should probably stop spamming this thread whenever I upload a new song, huh?

Don't stop, how should I get to know them otherwise? :P It's always refreshing to hear uncompressed drums. Every time again I'm shocked by the quality of your recordings.
Why this damn loudness war, whyyyy

Ok, not a new song - but something I recorded for shits and giggles.

IMPERIAL MARCH

It's so epic I had to play it. ;D
