If you truly want to demonstrate game play, get rid of effects in scenes where there is game play. This video just hurt my eyes. All I saw was effects and no game play.

I disagree.
If you want to be creative with effects then go ahead just as long as the essence of the gameplay is left intact. People are to quick to judge something as "Over edited" these days.
