HowTo: RegnumOnline @ Fedora 17
Ok, guys, here's how to use Regnum with Fedora 17 and FOSS drivers:
Code:
# Enable RPMFusion (one line) su -c 'yum localinstall --nogpgcheck http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm' # install the libxtc package su -c 'yum install libtxc_dxtn' # install RegnumOnline ... # Run it ... Ok, I'll have to eat my words a bit...
It does start pretty fast and all. Everything seems fine but, when you enter the game, you see all controls and all but you don't see the world. It's like scrambled or something. Any tips on this? |

did you enable the feature "force safe mode", otherwise there will be some issues with graphic, when you use the FOSS driver.
I also use Fedora 17, with my Radeon HD 3200 IGP. I get about 11 fps (in fort wars less) with the FOSS driver. |

I wish I had the other graphics options; they made the game very appealing. |

Oh well, I get up to 60 on my FirePro V4900. And 30 on high load.
Anyway, I prefer this and keeping it FOSS. Nvidia is crap (Linux Torvalds said it) and AMD is still getting there. I'll stick to Gallium for now. # References http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_36yNWw_07g |
