Well hunters hit considerably low, if I was a hunter I would want as much power as I could get, so Id have to pick longbow, but my decision could be just because im a spoiled power hungry barbarain.

It depends on you. Short bows are faster, short range and do lower damage than long bows. Long bows are slower, long range and do more damage than short ones. But keep in mind than two fast hits can make the same damage than 1 hard hit. Remember, the speed of the bow affect the time between shots but it ALSO affect the time between two spells (or a shot and a spell).
Some hunters like to hit fast and short range, to keep the pet near. Other hunters rather attack form far and have space to escape if thing go ugly. As for the spells of the disciplines, you'll see they are similar. Long Bows discipline is a little more about hitting hard and short is more about high speed and hit rate, but there are not really big differences. I think you should try some combinations and decide by yourself. For example, Short bows, Pet and Evasion (you'll be fighting close to the enemy) could be one. Or Long bows, Tricks, Scouting and some Evasion (if the enemy come too close you can run and hide). I just made up these examples, I advice the /reset_powers chat command and Hunter Spells web page at (www.regnumzg.com.ar)

theres more than one type of short bow short combat bows do alot more dmg than regular ones but have med attack and 20 range. some other have 25 range med attack and others are fast with 20 range and half decent attack there are some good ones that give you fast and 25 range. the decision is up to you. i think most hunters use short bows though. though some use long bows and dont have a pet which makes em like a marksman

Hunters should ALWAYS use fast shortbows with range 25.
Your skill settings should look like this: Pets (you must always be able to tame the best pet) Shortbow (quite unimportant, only good for tear appart) longbow(not skilled) Tricks(i skilled it up to Confuse) Scouting(i maxed it) Evasion(just that mobility is lvl3) So that you get a vague idea of how to play a hunter. I tested very much skill sets but this seemed to be the most efficent for me.
