True but I have no idea in the world how linux works...so that's probably out =P
Something interesting just happened though. I decided to just mess around with the 14 day free trial of EQII and guess what....when it tried to download some updates the EXACT same thing happened. It kept downloading the same file over and over again. SO....that obviously means that there is some service or background program running that I can't figure out. Unless I need to port forward for EQII, but I highly doubt that. and so the search continues.... =/ |

Okey this may sound stupid, and it is, and it's also dangerous (win could crash at any time during this):
Start the RO launcher and let it do the eternal loop. Start the task manager (ctrl+alt+del). Go to the processes tab, and start killing process TREES until the problem stops. When the loop stops, try and remember which one you killed last, google it's name and hopefully you'll have the software that is causing you trouble

had same problem here's how i fixed it
Well I had same problem with repeating .exe file being downloaded.
Solution seemed rather easy but odd. All i had to do while the game downloads the file is Cntrl-alt-delete to enter windows task manager and basiclly 2 regnum exe processes were running one active one more idle and unchanging in memory size. i just ended process for the less active one and once it finished downloaded the file again the problem was over with. Odd problem but solution worked |
