It depends on your fighting style.
You can go with huge dmg and huge range and slow bow range 30. It's very classical way of playing a marks IMO, and It has been proven to be efficient. However I know some marksman are using fast short bow range 25 because you have more attacks and cast more with that style. I've heard it can be quite efficient too.

Lvling: Shortbow + recharged arrows - Long or shortbow in endgame is next to irrelevant bcause you dont put points into them (besdide those to get the passives) because most your damage lies in your special discipls.

And you can use both too to adapt to every situation
If you're lvling, do it with the best bow you find.

A marksman with a strong short bow and lvl 4 dual shot can be a real handful for his enemies. |

While Marksmen's damage spells can be quite effective, you must remember that they are always fixed damage. This means you need something like Death sentence to help deal with heavily armored targets. On the other hand, Dualshot is the only damage spell a Marksman can get that is based upon weapon damage, thus it is possible to overcome enemies' protections by simply boosting your base attack with Dexterity and items. Furthermore, you must take into account mana cost when chosing which spells to cast. I know many Marksmen swear by Arrow mastery, but the spells are quite expensive for the damage they deal. Short bows are cheap in comparison. And Tear apart is very powerful, with the ability to deal 1000 direct damage (700 on a target with LV5 Acrobatics) for around the cost of an Ethereal arrow. The most dangerous Marksman is one who uses both shortbows and Arrow mastery spells. But you must keep in mind that such Marksmen must sacrifice their range, which many are not comfortable with. Regards,

Serpent bite is not a fixed dmg (it's more like a mistery dmg).
Lethal Strike is totally about weapon dmg

on a marks
i would go longbow... since you dont have the speed of the hunter to stay out of range from warriors or mages you can use parabolic shot this almost you extremely useful in fort wars by throwing the massive damage that a marks can deal such a great distance |

As a Marks I use both, especially slow and damage dealing longbows when in war or a high damage shortbow when hunting but i tend to switch between them according the distance of my target. Also I have a lot of points on the shortbows skill tree for its dexterity passiva and Dual Shot (which is superior to shield piercing )
