Why would a tree-loving realm and/or organization want to cut CO2? This is what all plants breathe in and use for their life. They then "exhale" Oxygen in return, which I'm pretty fond of myself. And the CO2 levels we have now are nothing compared to the Carboniferous Period (with record plantlife)....

And Alsius needs to keep producing weapons and armor if we are to keep our economy robust and adaptive! Productivity and jobs are up and the Alsius unemployment rate is at an all-time low! Rank det wrath av en Viking's Blad!

Keep up the good work Emperor!

Boring-science-guy inserts a rant:

Actually, mr Kyrottimus, the process of transpiration (The collection of carbon dioxide for photosynthesis and evolution of oxygen) is only about a third of the gaseous exchange that a tree performs. Trees also perform a foliar absorption of nitrogen, sulphur dioxide, and other airborne toxins, the processing of which requires them to respirate, turning their hydrocarbon chains back into steam and CO₂
Trees produce almost as much carbon dioxide as they do oxygen (which is part of the reason for the huge CO₂ levels during to Carboniferous era), and that's just during their lifetime. Once they have died they continue to evolve carbon dioxide and other toxic gases while absorbing oxygen through fluid osmosis.
All your town and blacksmiths' greenhouse gas emissions are ultimately doing is causing the acid rain that killed half of what forests we had left in Ignis, resulting in the war we now wage on you.

Ooh oooh! What about blue-green algae? That's a syrtis thing, right?

And btw, matter cannot be created, only converted so 1 cubic inch of CO2 cannot by converted to both 1 cu of Oxygen and 1 cu of CO2, at the very most you'd get 1/2 cu of CO2 and 1/2 cu of Oxygen as a volume return through the plant's life-process therefore reducing overall CO2 by at the very least 1/2 (that is assuming that plants give off almost as much CO2 as they do oxygen).

**shrugs**

No laws of diminishing return here.

Also, Alsius smithys use a Palladium and Platinum-based catalyizer on the chimneys of our forges, so the only emissions we give off are candy canes and gumdrops!

You're talking about gases. You can take 1cu of CO₂ and get all the cubic inches you like back from it. Talk in masses please ;P
So anyway,
Carbon is lighter than oxygen by a not inconsiderable margin. As there are two parts oxygen (Atomic weight ~16) to one part Carbon (~12), the density of oxygen to carbon in a CO₂ molecule is about 32:12. So, in 1kg of CO² there is about 727g of oxygen and 273g of carbon (very inexact at this point) to be produced by a 100% efficient photosynthesis reaction. Let's say by average weight about half of the carbon produced is retained in the tree's cells (this is wildly incorrect and varies according to a number of conditions, but let's press on), and the other half is used in respiration. Did I mention yet that we're assuming no hydrogen or nitrogen 'cause it's too complicated for a forum? Anyway, that's about 137g of carbon, and 364g of oxygen, producing 501g of CO₂ along with every 364g of Oxygen.
Huh.
Still, that's a reduction of nearly half a kilo of CO₂ for a 364g increase in oxygen
